Since 1969, Briar Hill Preschool has been providing a high quality educational program to local families. We aim to create and provide a warm and welcoming environment where children develop a sense of belonging, feel valued and supported and build self-confidence to develop to their full potential.
Our Preschool has a large outdoor environment and is surrounded by beautiful parklands. We have plenty of shaded and undercover areas to enable outdoor play to occur throughout the year, regardless of weather conditions.
Our indoor environment provides plenty of natural light and allows a clear view of the outdoors. Our modern and natural indoor area provides a wonderful and aesthetically pleasing learning environment for the children.
Briar Hill Preschool warmly welcomes families to visit our beautiful centre. If you would like to make enquiries or organise a visit, please contact our staff on 9435 2734 or click here to email us.
We acknowledge the traditional owners of this land and pay our respects to the elders who have raised children, taught them about the world around them and bestowed on them the gift of culture and language.
Recognition
Briar Hill Preschool has been recognised by the Victorian Government for Advanced Standing for Sun Protection in the Achievement Program. This means we have successfully demonstrated how we are meeting best practices for this health area. We are very proud of this recognition.
The Achievement Program is a free health and wellbeing initiative for early childhood services. More information about the program can be found here.
Our Families
Kindergarten is not only a place for children but a place for families to meet and build relationships with local families. The kindergarten community, now over 50 years old, is culturally inclusive where all families are respected and encouraged to collaborate with educators to ensure learning outcomes for children are achieved.
Families are encouraged to be involved with their child’s learning and development and to contribute to the enhancement of the educational program. Families have opportunities to be involved by spending time with their children during a session, sharing special skills, attend special family events, volunteering as members of the committee, assisting with fundraising events and attending one of the many social events.
Throughout the year, many fundraising and social events are held for our kindergarten community such as BBQ’s, children’s disco and a Christmas celebration.
Committee
Briar Hill Preschool prides itself on being a parent managed kindergarten. Eight parents hold voting positions on the Committee of Management, and many more help out with maintenance and social events. This enables parents to have direct input into the running of the kindergarten, which enables us to offer the very best kindergarten experience for our children.
Being a member of committee is extremely rewarding. It provides an opportunity to be a part of the kindergarten community, to get to know other parents and to have a say in what happens with regards to the first steps of your child’s education. Parent participation help teach your children about the importance of community and assists the kindergarten to keep its cost’s low and quality of its educational program high.
The Committee meets once a month and parents from a variety of backgrounds are currently involved.
